week 7: materials

Pre-K Week 7

Hey friends, I’m looking forward to a fun- filled week 7 all about weather! This week we will be talking all about weather. Just think about how much the weather has changed since I saw you last. Just like we did a few weeks back go outside and see how it feels. Is it raining? Sunny? Hot? Cold? Or even a mix of all of them? As well as talking about weather I want you to focus on writing your name and letter recognition.

Included in the packet this week, along with the lesson plan activities (use the same number puzzle and letter search from last week’s packet) are some weather sight words with some weather paper. Pick some weather words and write them down on the special paper included. Some of the words are big, if they are to big just trace them or have a grown – up help you practice sounding them out.

Next is a rainy day letter sound match the letter raindrop to the correct umbrella as well as the picture raindrop that starts with that sound. For example the letter A umbrella would have the letter a raindrop as well as the Apple raindrop.

To go along with our letter match we also have a raindrop name craft. Instructions are included! Before doing the raindrop craft you could do the alphabet tracing worksheet to help remember your letters.

Next we have a few weather color by letter pictures for art time. As well as a weather book you can color and pretend to do our circle time weather routine!

For Math this week we have some weather puzzles, tracing, sunshine patterns, rainbow shape match and your very own weather graph so you can keep track of the weather daily at home!

Lastly I have included a few extra worksheets and a tornado rhyming match in the packet if you want to use them!

Have a great week. Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Pre-K Week 6: Materials

Hey friends, I can’t believe it’s already week 6! We are celebrating Earth Day this week. We will be talking about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and how we can help the earth. I want you to go around your house this week and find 5 things you can reduce, 5 things you can reuse, and 5 things you can recycle.  Do you already recycle in your home? What do you recycle? Invent something out of recyclable items and post it to our Facebook group. As well as talking about recycling I want you to focus on writing your name and letter recognition.

Included in the packet this week, along with the lesson plan activities, is some trace and color Earth Day worksheets. This works on fine motor as well as word recognition.

Next I included some fun Earth Day coloring pages and an Earth Day headband to wear! Then we have a make your own book on how we can help the earth for art time.

Math this week is a color by number, a maze, and matching tally/ dots to the correct number.

Lastly we have a reduce, reuse, recycle sort. Sort the pictures into the correct bin.

Pre-K at Home

Hey guys!  We know this isn’t the perfect situation and we thank you all for working with us these next few weeks! We have a sample daily schedule for you guys and activities to go along with it.  We encourage getting fresh air, exploring nature, and going on walks, but stay away from large groups! We have also created a private Facebook group for our class ONLY. We will be posting videos of the teachers reading stories, doing science, etc. We want to keep our connection with your kiddos and still be a part of their daily lives! Please search for the group Acorn Montessori Pre-K 2020 on Facebook. Then ask to join and we will add you! Again you HAVE to be a parent to join no extended family! If you have any problems finding our Facebook group e-mail me and I will add you.

I, Ms. Chelsea, will still be available during work hours if you have any questions. Please, e-mail me on Classtag or my school e-mail : [email protected] and I will get back to you Asap!

Their book must be labeled with their name and they will bring it in when we return to school to share with  us what they did during their time at home!

week 5: Materials

Pre-K Week 5

Hey friends I have been missing you a whole bunch and hope you are having a wonderful time at home! This week we continue on with spring activities. I want you to go outside this week and look around. Do you see anything different outside? Are there more bugs? What kind do you see? How does the weather feel? Is it warm? cold? windy? Do any of the plants in your yard look different? Draw everything down that you see. You can work on a picture for a couple days and find new things outside each day to add to your picture!

Included in the packet this week are a few spring themed activities we have spring addition work. I included the picture of the example in the packet. If you do not have dotters use stickers, legos, anything will work. To make a spinner grab a paper clip and a brad then attach the paper clip to the brad and punch in the middle of the spinner. If you don’t have wither tape the spinner paper up on the wall and have your child close their eyes and point at a number!

Next activity is a Fine Motor Journal. There are so many benefits of your kiddo having fine motor strength as they head into kindergarten. If you have any old notebooks lying around you can turn this into a journal. If not just do it on paper and staple it together! I have included an example of the activities you can do in your journal with the letters and numbers provided.

There are also lines and shapes included. Your child can copy the lines on paper, cut them out and glue them, or trace the lines.

Next is a letter hunt. Tape the letters around your house and then complete one of the alphabet find the worksheets that best suits your child.  You do not need to use the letter cards I provided you can make your own or use a washable marker to write the letters around your house.

For art we have a color by number, spring picture, and their list journal. We will also be posting art activities on our Facebook as well.

Lastly we have choice boards. Have your kiddo pick a choice board and roll a dice then count to that number spot on the board and do the activity.

Learning At Home Week 3

We hope you are all doing well and the stuff we are posting and putting in our packets has been helpful to you! If you have not yet please join our group on Facebook called Acorn Montessori Pre-K 2020. We have been trying to post helpful resources for you and videos of us, so we can still interact with your kiddos!

Heading into week three we wanted to pick up where we left off when we were in school. We were about to learn the letter T, working on addition, and learning the plant life cycle. I have included a homework packet to go along with this theme.

I have also included a bunch of Alphabet worksheets and information to help you build learning skills while you are home. Remember you don’t have to do the worksheets, they are only there if your kiddo is interested in doing them!

Again here is our sample daily schedule

7:00-9:00- Breakfast

9:00-10:00- Out for a walk. I have included a scavenger hunt checklist in the packet this week. Take pictures or collect the items and put in your bag. See if you can get them all!

10:00-12:00- Educational materials.

This week we will be talking about the plant life cycle. Plant a plant this week and watch it grow. They can bring it in to class when we return!

Open your fridge and look for plants you eat! What part do you eat? (Root, Stem, Leaf, Flower). Have a taste test with these foods.

A great Fine Motor/ Math Activity is to grab a bunch of seeds, bird seed works too, and have your kiddo sort the seeds by size. Have them use tweezers for extra Fine Motor Practice. I have included Seed Sorting mat in the packet. If you do not have accesses to seeds there are some paper ones on the side you can cut and glue!

I will be posting some fun plant science as well this week!
